My F-41

When you receive the F-41 plans, you notice that there are alot of options that you can choose from to customize your F-41. This page details which options I've decided to include as well as other bits and pieces about the F-41 I'm building.

Name: Haven't come up with one yet...

Hull Materials: Corecell, stitched fiberglass and epoxy. The bulkheads are the same but will be vacuum bagged.

Floorplan: By default, the plans show three different floorplans for the F-41 although you can mix and match from those three. However, I've gone a slightly different way. Since Ian Farrier recently came up with the idea of having the inboard engines located just aft of the cabin bulkheads, my floorplan is a bit different from the standard. Here's a picture:

Fig 1:Here's my current idea of the floorplan. There's still a few things I might change.

Rudder: There are at least 3 different rudder options: underslung, single and double pivot transom mounted rudders. I'm going for transom blade rudders - hopefully the new F-33 style daggerboard rudder if Ian can get those drawn up by the end of the summer.

Engines: An inboard ( Yanmar 3GM30? (24hp) ) in each hull with saildrives. Each engine will be offset inboard as shown below. Folding or feathering propellers.

Fig 2: An image of the offset saildrive inboards.

Minikeel: None. With the engines offset to the side, there will be no protrusions from the bottom of the hull, giving a minimum draft of about 2'. Also, there's nothing to snag lines, anchor rodes, lobster pots, etc...

Daggerboards: Yup - 2 of them. Since there's no minikeel, these are kind of mandatory...

Chainplates: The default are aluminum chainplates, but I'll be going with the Carbon Fiber Chainplates instead glued directly into the hulls. No chance of leaks with those.

Other: Composite bow beam, Targa bar
